Sharif A. Mohamed
Imam
Imam Sharif M. Abdirahman was born in Somalia. He has been a student of many distinguished scholars,
some of whom were his family members, in Somalia. Teaching the
religion of Islam, in details, to others was a passion he grew
up with. Imam Sharif has been also a teacher of his own; educating
himself about the abundance knowledge of Islam and giving fatwas
(legal ruling) to others.
Imam Sharif came in Minneapolis,
MN in 1996. He is one of the co-founders of Dar Al-Hijrah center, which
was an establishment of promise that he would help his
community by a creating a center like this one. Amongst his immense activities include
teaching people about Islam, giving legal rulings (fatwa) to those
who seek justices, instituting a counseling office where people
can work out their problems through the teachings of Islam, raising
funds for non-profit organizations, and many more.
Imam Sharif
gives speeches and lectures in both large and small audiences.
He also teaches students from varieties of Islamic books, and he
is an eminent scholar in the teachings of Islam in North
America and around the world. Among his research includes in Islam & Family, How to Raise Muslim Children in Western Hemsphere, Good Manners in Islam, How to live with non-Muslims, etc.
Currently, Imam Sharif serves as the imam of Dar Al-Hirajh Islamic Civic Center. He lives in St. Paul, MN with his wife and children.
Abdisalam Adam
Director
Abdisalam Adam was born in Somalia. He finished his early education,
from elementary to high school, in Nigeria. Adam has BA from the
King Saudi University, Riyadh, SA.
Adam came to America in 1991. Here he proceeded his education
and received a Master of Science Degree from St. Cloud State University.
He is very active within our community; from teaching to volunteering.
Adam is currently the director of Dar Al-Hijrah, and he is also
one of the co-founders of the center. Adam is also a Somali Community Specialist
for St. Paul Public Schools.
Adam serves as the board member of Al-Amal school, International
Charter School, and African Relief Agency of Horn of Africa [ARAHA].
Adam currently lives in Fridley, MN with his wife and children.
Abdisamad
Ibrahim
Treasure
Abdisamad Ibrahim was born in Emay, a Somali region in
Ethiopia. He finished his high school degree in Mogadishu. After
graduating from Lafoole University, Ibrahim became the superintendent
of public high schools in Mogadishu.
Ibrahim came to America in 1998. He currently serves as the
treasurer of Dar Al-Hijrah. He still teaches at the center and
is an active member within our community.
Wali Dirie
Secretary
Wali Dirie was born in the capital city of Somali, Mogadishu.
There he graduated from Jamal Abdinasir High School. Dirie came
to the United States in 1996. Within few years, he completed his
Associated Degree at KRS Computer Business College, which is now
combined with Normandale, MN.
Dirie has been and still is an active
member within our community. He currently serves as the secretary
of Dar Al-Hijrah. Dirie is also the director of Volunteers of America – Iqra
Night School, and the principal of an Islamic Weekend School.
