This was a DYC's bi-monthly event. Sh. Ahmed Taajir, imam of Ummatul Islam mosque, and Br. Abdisalam Adam, director of Dar Al-Hijrah mosque, nourished youths with the Islamic knowledge in regards to what a Muslim youth ought to be, taken resources from the Quran, hadiths, Islamic history, etc.

Muslim Youths & the Islamic Marriage

Event Update:
This was a DYC's bi-monthly event. The wellbeing of civilization rests upon the realms of family. The foundation of family is marriage. In Islam, marriage is a lawful agreement and a revered act. Sh. Ahmed Taajir, imam of Ummatul Islam mosque, lectured youths about marriage in Islam. M ain topics were to create a better understanding in the Steps Towards Marriage, What makes Marriage an easy or difficult one, the Pleasures of Marriage, and many more to create a debate that you will never forget!

Grand Opening of the Mosque Expansion

Event Update:
The expansion of the men's section at Dar Al-Hijrah mosque was completed in November 2007. Many sheikhs, community activits, organizations, and the community at large came to the ceremony.

This event was established by the Salahudin Student Union, who do similar events like this. And they did this event in particular for their teachers, classmates, parents, and staff of Salahudin Islamic School.

Eid Al-Fitr

Event Update:
The Council of Imams from different mosques in Minnesota have agreed upon that Friday October 12th, 2007 will be the first day of Shuwal. We wish a pleasant Eid Mubarak to all of you wherever you may be, Kulu 'Amin wantum bikheyr. Eid Al-Fitr is one of the major Islamic Holiday remarking the end of Ramadan.

Eid prayers were held at the mosque and Bryan Coyle Community Center in Mpls, MN.

The Road to Judgment Day
Date: Monday October 10, 2007
Location: Dar Al-Hijrah Mosque

Event Update:
A night most likely to be Layl Al-Qadr(Night of Power) as agreed various scholars. It is a night that is equivalent to good deeds that are better than 83 years and 4 months. Thus, we invite the community members, especially the youth, to congregate at the mosque for the entire night and engage in a spiritual awakening journey. Many sheikhs have participated in this event, lecturing us about the day of the judgment. Sh. Abdirahman Sharif, Prof. Abdulwahid Sh. Osman, and others were amonsgst the lecturers.

Welcoming the Blessed Month of Ramadan

Event Update:
Ramadan for 2007 is either on September 12th or 13th. Thus, Dar Al-Hijrah is hosting an event to welcome the month of Ramadan; to know its meaning, principles, and history. This lecture is for young Muslim students; however, both young and old are welcome to celebrate the upcoming blessed month. Refreshements are provided for the audience!

Salahudin Students' Picnic Day

To end the summer with laughter and reminder was a goal that was achieved on this beautiful day with the students of Salahudin and their teachers. We prayed, played soccer, basketbal, and tennis, and ate food.

Health Awareness with Islamic Perspective
Date: March 16th of 2007
Location: Dar Al-Hijrah, Minneapolis, MN

Event Update:
The main concern of the event was to showcase the importance of health education, prevention of diseases, and the connection between Islam and health. A doctor, public health, pharmacist, and the imam of the mosque partook of this event with titles such as The Significance of Drug Use and Abuse, Islam and Health, Diets, and Prevention of Illegitimate Sex (Zina) and much more. An estimation of 200 attendees.

Eid Al-Adha
Date: December 30th of 2006

Event Update:
Many Muslims have come to celebrate the biggest holiday of the Muslims, Eid Al-Adha. Women, children, and men have rejoiced together at Dar Al-Hijrah. An estimation of 500~700 attended the two prayers we held at the mosque.

A Symposium on the Success of Muslims

Event Update:
The symposium was held at South High School, and scholars from in and around MN have come to speak about Family Issues & Islam and the Future of Muslims in America. Prof. Mohamed Sh. Rasheed, Br. Mohamed Dini, Sh. Ahmed Burale, Prof. Abdullwahid Sh. Osman, and Imam Abdirahman Sharif were the speakers that enlightened us that night. More than 700 attended the event.

The Success of Muslim Youth

Event Update:
This was the bi-monthly event for the Muslim youths in Twin Cities and its vicinities held by the Dar Al-Hijrah Youth Council to congregate at the mosque for this wonderful event. The theme of this event was educational and spiritual awakening night. Various speakers participated at the event including Prof. Abdiwahid Sh. Osman, Crystal Flint-Holoman, and the director of Dar Al-Hijrah Abdisalam Adam with topics as Bridging Between Education & Religion, How to Succeed in Schools, The Success Here & After, & Admission, Scholarships, & Financial Aid Processes.

Salahudin Students' Night

Event Update:
Students of Salahudin Islamic School dedicated this event for their young brothers and sisters at Salahudin to spent time at the mosque together. Because it was Thanksgiving holiday, students did not have school; instead of spending their time somwhere else they organized this event. They demonstrated very valuable lessons through lectures, plays, poems, contests, awards, etc.

Dar Al-Hijrah Volunteer Appreciation
Date: November 5th of 2006
Location: VOA, Minneapolis, MN

Event Update:
More than 60 people whom have volunteered at Dar Al-Hijrah mosque during the Ramadan participated in this event.The Board of the Mosque recognized the efforts of these people. The event was in luncheon form where the Board gave certificates to these volunteers.

Salahudin Eid Festival

Event Update:
More than 300 of Salahudin Students gathered at the Center to celebrate the festival of Eid Fitr. The students demonstrated varieties of activities such as lectures, dicussion, poetries, moral plays, entertaiment, awards and gifts to the adminstration, teachers, and students. Students invited Br. Mohamed Dini from Ohio to give a lecture about staying Muslim in the western society. The director of Center Br. Abdisalam was also the invitees speakers.

Eid Al-Fitr 2006

Event Update:
In Islam there are two major holidays and each of them comes after finishing one of the Islamic pillars. They are Eid Al-Fitr, which comes after completing the Ramadan (fasting), and Eid Al-Adha, which comes after the Pilgrimage to the City of Mecca. The estimated attendees were between 1,500 to 2,000 including men, women, and children.

27th Night of Ramadan
